Profit Ideas

1. Make things that people like.
2. Make things that people will buy.
3. Lots of.
4. Make things that are disposable so people need to keep buying them.
(screw those environment hippies, that€™s why they live off Spam in
their mom€™s double-wide)
5. Make things that people think are hip and stylish, status symbols.
6. Make things that people will refer to their friends.
7. Make things that people will eventually think of as indispensable.
8. Market the FCUK out of it. Guerilla marketing. You know what I€™m talkin bout.
9. Eliminate middle-men. Or become one.
10. User-created content.
11. Social.
12. Tagging.
13. Web 2.0
14. Ajax.
15. Mobile phones.
16. Don€™t be evil. (well, maybe just a little bit. I mean, really,
what is €œevil€, anyway? right? AHA I€™m just joshin€™ ya. maybe.
am I?)
17. Do it. Make it happen. Pronto.

Anything else?

Too Much Information

The LA Times writes about the commoditization of time in modern culture. One example they give are the digital signs on the freeway that provide travel time estimates during rush hour.

Some motorists love it; others don’t.

“Estimated
time does not help because I am already on the road,” and “What’s the
difference between 25 or 45 minutes? Are there any alternatives once
you are at that point?” and “Too much information!”

There’s
no such thing as “too much information.” There is only our ability to
effectively synthesize, organize, and act upon (or ignore) all the
information we receive.

This is the challenge of our generation.
Even more challenging is to do it without becoming subsumed by it. Of
course, that’s a very subjective concept, which, ultimately, raises
spiritual questions… what is life really about? What is important to keep the same within ourselves and our lives while everything else changes and adapts? Anything?

Ah damnit, me and my friggin tangents. Full stop.
